There used to be an #identica account that mirrored them but it's dead.

Yes, that's what I wanted to point out and #rms is pretty clear about how he does computing

Another thing:
- sharing notices should not be visible by default by non-logged users

If !gnusocial is really not well tested in "private mode", than the way it is presented on the official websites is misleading. From gnu.io: "It is social communication software for both public and private communications.". From https://gitorious.org/social/: "What if you could authorize your server to reveal as much, or as little information about you to other sites, as you wish... one time, one day, or forever?". @mattl

@aroque I know Benfell, I know Red-Devs ...i known all that thing, and all the friendica/redmatrix/diaspora/libertree things :) . My opinion for now, redmatrix is the best thing between !fosw . But I use a little all this !fosw and I have contacts in all these networks. For "technical speeches" I'm not good, but I can tell you that Mike (the Red-Dev number 1) is one of the best Dev I have encountered in this !fosw world.

People on !diaspora have different usage patterns: some seem to post everything publicly, others cross-post from !redmatrix... I mostly use it in "read-only" mode - almost as private as it gets ;-)

♻ @aroque Meanwhile on !diaspora... Sean Tilley points out the weaknesses of !gnusocial compared to more modern federated social networks https://framasphere.org/posts/349170. True, many things don't work quite well, still I think !gnusocial has a number of strong points: super easy to install and lightweight, it can be tweaked without much effort. And compared to diaspora: it has groups (aspects don't quite make up for it), full text search and an API. !fediverse

Thanks. I had gettext on my machine but had not generated the files. I updated the installation notice https://gitorious.org/social/mainline/merge_requests/32 since I couldn't find the info there.

I don't have an Android smart phone, but do they give any reasons in patch notes for needing this kind of privileges?
-
they need someone who does this kind of work, lack devs ...
