Well, one positive aspect of all the Mastodon users is that, when I visit their profiles, I haven't yet had any problems with scripts disabled. Unlike the majority of GNU Social profiles I visit which have JS-only interfaces; I degrate to appending `/rss' to the URL to view posts in those cases. - moved to https://mastodon.social/@lohang, Linux Walt (@lnxw48a1) and Adam Worthy like this.

@catonano I think it's important to distinguish between the Web as a means of conveying information (documents, media, etc) and as a runtime. I have a problem when the two are improperly conflated (that is, I'm a firm believer in progressive enhancement). If someone wants to develop a program for the Web, fine, but then they need to call it that, understand what exactly it is they are doing and whether it's really appropriate, and stop fucking with me.
