@byronalley I'd prefer people, or communities, to run their own stuff. Many of the well known internet companies provide services which aren't really necessary, and it's possible to run similar software without them in a much more decentralized way. This is the mission of #Freedombone, and other projects like it.

I'm sure that artists and writers will continue to do just fine without the megacorporations and their advertising spam. There are quite a few here in the fediverse.
