@noidea @xj9 BATMAN is probably a better mesh protocol, and you can do what's described in the article with the mesh version of !Freedombone.

Ultimately p2p in a mesh with content addressable data and caching is the only thing which really scales. Most people are accustomed to the client/server paradigm though and since there is so much software written in that mode I expect that p2p is more of a longer term thing. The barrier is not so much technological as psychological.
