I agree but mastodon implemented private disusing zone, or that you need to follow x people to see their posts.
Which is an aberration by itself because we well know that if the server gets pwnd or if the admin is a bad person then the discussions aren't private.
Plus it goes against the principle of public microblogging.

Indeed.
We simply can't because we voluntary publish public data.
But we can, indirectly, limit legally if we use CC-BY-SA.
If all post on an instance are under CC-BY-SA then the we can limit correlation (and more) since the databrokers have to put the said data results under the same license.
Plus if databrokers are willing to use the CC-BY-SA we would have even more direct proof of the results of datamining.
So I think it's a win-win situation if we publish our public comments under CC-BY-SA.

And per default GS just uses the CC-BY.
!Admins should add the (-SA) to augment the efficiency of the system.
