how long will it take most car companies to make reasonably secure driver less cars?
the most obvious threat is taking over the car. anyone can see the defcon talk where they went over the effort tesla took to prevent this and other threats. but no word from any other auto company. wild guess is they see no threat to their bottom line, and thus, no ROI until enough bodies pile up.
they have to be physically secure too. if your asleep, is the car easily tricked? say by painting new lines in the road or simply walking in front of it or using people or manaquins to guide it away? carjacking would probably be an issue for a while.
the second part wont be an issue if cars become a roving taxi fleets, but the first still will be.
privacy issue: would they keep records of where you went? the last thing you need is a stalker learning everything about you from your car. im sure law enforcement will want this, but its proven time and time again, you cant hide a golden key. -
